Congo Basin

The Congo Basin is the world's second-largest rainforest, a vast, roadless, mineral-rich bowl drained by the mighty but cataract-broken Congo River. Its size, jungle and lack of navigable exit to the sea make it one of the hardest places on Earth to govern or develop — the core of Africa's 'locked rivers' problem.
