The Himalayas are the reason Asia's two billion-person powers have mostly glared rather than fought: a wall so high that the 1962 and 2020 India–China clashes were fought by companies, not armies. They are also Asia's water tower — ten major rivers rise here, which converts glacier politics into everyone's problem.
